As I was leaving the gym this morning I decided to make a smoothie when I got home. I spent the drive home planning what to put in it, and it was so nice I had to write a post on it! I used frozen bananas, which gives it a gorgeous ice-creaminess. Here’s the recipe:
Serves 1
Ingredients
250ml/1 cup milk
1 frozen banana (medium size, frozen in large chunks)
1 scoop/2 tbsp vanilla protein powder (optional)
2-3 tsps peanut butter
1 handful spinach leaves
Method
Place all of the ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.
Tips
If you prefer it sweeter, try adding 1 tsp maple syrup or honey.
This recipe will still work with fresh banana if you don’t have any frozen, but it won’t be quite as creamy. I like to keep chunks of banana in resealable snack bags in the freezer just for smoothies (I try to buy more bananas than we will eat in a week so that I’ll have some left over to freeze and some to make muffins or banana bread!).
If I was going to have this for breakfast I’d add a handful of oats.
